Negative Creeps was already formed in the early nineties, but this is the first record I've ever heard from them. In the beginning they self financed their first two albums, but it wasn't until their third album 'In Uterus Rebirth' that led the band to sign a record contract with the Greek label Black Lotus Records. This album is their fourth and according to their biography, they are inspired and influenced by Slayer and Sepultura. Their main style is metalcore, but they have also incorporated thrash, death and black metal. So their style is quite unique (and the band named it as 'Satancore'). Nevertheless, this album mainly consists of thrash metal and metalcore. Most of the songs have their good parts. For example, the title track 'Mutual Annihilation' has a catchy melodyline. However, they could be a lot better (songs are quite mediocre). I think M.K. should have incorporated some clean vocals in order to diversify songs. Also I would have wished for more melodic approach on metalcore. Production on this album is ok... Unfortunately, the mix becomes tiring in the long run. However, the sounds are quite solid and strong. All in all, this album is satisfactory. It isn't very diverse, although Negative Creeps do have unique style which they call Satancore... By the way, I think the name 'Satancore' is daunting and only reinforces the prejudices of metal music (I hope they only use it as a joke). Visit Artist's Website - MAGE (10.09.2004) « back
