Daniele Liverani's new group, Twinspirits, has recently released their debut album 'The Music That Will Heal the World'. This album explores the progressive metal genre while trying to remain melodic and accessible at all times - the reason I said trying is because the band gets carried away with some gimmickry every now and then. I'd call the music a mixture of melodic hard rock and progressive metal with some catchy hooks. However, the vocalist Søren Adamsen is the weakest link of this group, since he sounds cold and even pretentious at times. The songs are rather steady in quality, and to name some references, especially Dream Theater and Shadow Gallery come into mind. For example, the guitar-keyboard unison passages reminds me of Shadow Gallery. The production on this record is quite average. There's nothing really exciting about it, but on the other hand there are no clear letdowns either. For the most part, the songs on this release are fairly good, but those that are high in energy aren't that impressive. This is mainly due to the singer, because his voice seems to be much more appropriate for ballads such as "What You Want" (where his voice shined) rather than songs with real drive. With an additional singer this group could be much more intriguing to listen to, but as such I feel Twinspirits remains mediocre and will get stomped upon by some other groups.
