Within Temptation's single from their new album "The Heart of Everything" shows that the band still continues to orient more towards modern metal. Regardless, the new material is somewhat similar to that of their previous album. One sign of progress is Sharon being a bit more adventurous with the use of her voice now than in the past, and having seen the video of their game (Chronicles of Spellborn) inspired song "The Howling" it's quite safe to say that Within Temptation's popularity will only grow with their new releases. Not to get sidetracked too much, out of the two versions of What Have You Done the latter rock mix is the one that's included on the album.
