For the last two weeks I've been listening to groovy riffing, dark atmosphere and haunting melodies crowding the latest release by Lamb of God titled as Sacrament. While the album starts straight-off with a promising hard-rocking opener "Walk with Me in Hell", the record doesn't quite manage to keep the quality of songs as high as one is led to assume by the first impression. Though the material is surprisingly steady on this album, at times there are some declines - regardless, on the whole, this record is rather good. Generally speaking the album starts well and ends well. However, in the middle it does get repetitive and makes one wonder if the band has run out of ideas. Musically Lamb of God is fairly similar to Arch Enemy with slight Metallica-influence on top of it (just listen to Pathetic). To name a few highlights on this record, listen to Walk with Me in Hell, Descending, Blacken the Cursed Sun, and Beating on Death's Door. This album has been produced well, and surprisingly it was mastered by Brian Gardner (whose credits include Blink 182, Eminem, En Vogue, Janet Jackson, Nelly Furtado, Prince... you know, all the good names in metal ;) All in all, Lamb of God's Sacrament is a good record with its moments, and will most certainly please the fans of the band.
