Mystica is the eleventh studio album by the famed German hard rock guitarist Axel Rudi Pell. Compared to his earlier works, Mystica doesn't offer much new - it's a traditional, well-done hard rock record. The songs are more or less catchy, and the hard-hitting grooves drive the album onwards. Though I regard the quality of the songs on this record to be fairly even, I might choose the album closer "The Curse of the Damned" as the true highlight of this record with its melodious leads (though it also contains some brainless gimmickry).

Production on this album is fairly moderate. The sounds are OK, but I think there could have been even more balls. The mix is fairly balanced, and as a whole this album is quite enjoyable to listen to. Fans of hard rock will most likely find Mystica worthy of their attention, though it doesn't have anything new to offer to the genre.
