Abandoned's old school thrash metal driven debut album "Thrash Notes" should be one of the interesting releases of 2006... at least, if one was to believe promotional text found on back of the promo. Unfortunately, Abandoned doesn't manage to keep faith with this - Thrash Notes is nothing else than an average thrash metal album coated in few delicious riffs. So, at times the material is good, but as a whole this album doesn't manage to impress me much.

One of the biggest stumbling blocks on this album is surely the weak production - the mix is somewhat tiresome to listen, and definitely makes it harder to enjoy the material on this record. However, the sounds are quite believable, since they sure are thrashy. As with most thrash metal groups, the vocalist in this band isn't great. A better singer could have made the material much more intriguing with a bit of dynamic variation. Regardless, I'm sure some may find Abandoned worth checking out though its songs are fairly generic.
