Bolt is a fairly new group having released their debut album independently back in 2003. Just recently this trio got signed to a new label 10T Records, whose launching release is indeed the second album by Bolt titled as "Movement and Detail". In case you're wondering what to expect from Bolt, I'd describe their music as an adventurous take on instrumentals influenced by everything from old video games to art rock groups and electronic music artists. The result is of course avantgardish art rock with strong focus on catchy melodies and atmospheric soundscapes. I reckon, some might call this math-rock, but I've never been fond of that definition, since music should always be emotionate - it's an instrument for conveying emotions, and feeling sure comes through Bolt's compositions. The production on this record is rather good. Sounds are very fitting, and overall quality of material is fairly high. There's not much to criticize, except that the prospective audience for this kind of music is quite small. The more one listens to this record, the better it gets (I'm already on my fourth successive listen, and the material still manages to intrigue me).
