Ever since the release of Lateralus, fans of Tool have waited for a new Tool record. After all, Lateralus was so good (I regard it as the best Tool album) that it naturally got people anticipating for another great record. Therefore the expectations on their latest album 10,000 Days are rather high. After the first listen I had mixed thoughts, since I wasn't as impressed as I wished. Nonetheless, after a couple of more runs, the material started growing on me... now I actually regard this album to be one of their best - though it isn't nearly as good as Lateralus, it does come somewhat close. 10,000 Days is an album that requires time. One has to quieten down and let one's mind to freely wander. There are some really catchy riffs here and there, one being the intro riff on Jambi. As on their previous releases, Tool plays very unique blend of modern metal with fairly experimental nature. The production on Tool's 10,000 Days is really good. The sounds are atmospheric yet assertive. In addition, the digipack on which this album came has been realized innovatively. There are stereoscopic lenses integrated on the package that enhance the browsing experience of three-dimensional artwork. Overall, this record is a must-buy for all the fans of Tool. Also those, who are new to this group, should give this disc a spin if they're into tranquil vibe-metal. Visit Artist's Website - MAGE (May 15th, 2006) « back
