Something's wrong... I just listened to Pearl Jam's latest record, which is unimaginatively titled as Pearl Jam. By publishing a self-titled album, I thought Pearl Jam was going to take a fresh start. In a way, they actually did. It's just unfortunate their new material isn't nowhere near the quality of their past works. There are only few moments of success on this record, when the listener is positively surprised by the group. However, the overall quality of material on this album is lamentably mediocre. There are only few highlights on this record, most of which are ballads. It's a shame Pearl Jam hasn't been able to infuse their more rocking songs with feeling. In my view, only about half of this record's songs are even worth a listen... these are World Wide Suicide, Severed Hand, Marker in the Sand, Parachutes, Big Wave, Gone and Inside Job. At least the sounds on this album are fairly good altogether. On Pearl Jam's self-titled record the group has lost a lot of their past shimmer - it feels as if they copy some other groups on the scene, since they've lost their own touch.
