Norther's fourth studio album "Till Death Unites Us" was recorded at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden. Bands such as Arch Enemy, In Flames, Soilwork, Opeth, among others may pop into your mind when you think of Studio Fredman productions... so a lot of quality albums have been recorded there. Regardless, Norther's album doesn't quite live up to the expectations I had - how unfortunate. Till Death Unites Us is fairly traditional melodic death metal record. Though it relies more on the extreme side of metal, melodic neo-classical influences grow stronger towards the end. In addition, clean vocals are used occasionally on the latter half of the album (courtesy of Kristian Ranta). Every now and then there are quite catchy yet innovative ideas, which make listening to this record even slightly rewarding. The production side of this record ain't too shabby either... actually the sounds are to the point with the exception of being a bit too trebly. Overall, Norther's Till Death Unites Us is fairly good effort from these Finns, though not all the tracks deliver (the album contains a bit too much run-of-the-mill material).
