Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee has gathered a group of well-known musicians for his solo album "TommyLand: The Ride". Musicians from bands such as Jane's Addiction, Good Charlotte, Fuel, Sum 41, Jack's Mannequin, Something Corporate and even Backstreet Boys perform on this record. Quite surprisingly Tommy Lee's solo album isn't full-blooded rock album - instead this record consists of catchy pop tunes.

Although this record doesn't offer anything revolutionary, its music seems to be well-suited to be on the background. It's kind of radio-friendly, conventional, well-produced pop music. Nothing more, nothing less. Double-tonguedly Lee laments that "Everyone kind of sounds the same and looks the same" with regard to the lack of originality among rock stars - well, Lee's own solo album isn't much of an effort of originality either. The reason for this is simply that not many record labels are ready to invest in originality, since they aren't sure whether people will welcome it arms wide open. The underground scene is full of creative, original bands though - so Mr. Lee, invest some time to check out those less popular groups.
