The Finnish power metal group Twilight Guardians was formed in 1996. To distinguish themselves, they've added neo-classical twists to their music (how original, eh?). Well, I guess it's hard to achieve the status of an innovative power metal band these days. This is their third album (titled as SinTrade), which contains nine original songs and one metal rendition of Madonna's La Isla Bonita.

Perhaps I've listened to too many power metal acts, since Twilight Guardians' SinTrade doesn't manage to get me hooked although the material is quite good. It might be the lack of emotion shining through the material what I'm craving for - although the group delivers a tight performance, I would have liked to hear more feeling put into the songs. Nevertheless, occasionally also this viewpoint has been satiated.

Overall, SinTrade ain't too bad a power metal record. I'm sure some listeners of power metal will find it worth checking out. Nonetheless, I'd rather wait for the new release from another Finnish power metal band, namely Twilightning (whose debut album was very good).
