The highly anticipated collaboration album between Russell Allen and Jörn Lande is definitely worth the wait. The songs have been crafted by no other than Magnus Karlsson of Last Tribe and Starbreaker. Therefore I'm not surprised at all, how amazing this album turned out to be.

The Battle contains twelve tracks bordering between power metal and melodic hard rock. In addition to the heavier parts, also more mellow sections have been included on some songs - namely lush piano sections. Both Allen and Lande shine on this record, and their voices complement the music exceptionally well.

The production on this record is rather good. This isn't too surprising since Anders "Theo" Theander (Pain of Salvation, Last Tribe, Urban Tale) worked with Magnus Karlsson on the studio. The sounds aren't over-polished, which suits the album well stylistically.

Magnus Karlsson has once again proved that he's able to compose a great album (as he did with the supergroup Starbreaker). The Battle will surely appeal to all listeners of melodic hard rock and power metal.
