The debut full-length album of Italian Listeria carries the title "Full of Fire". Accordingly the music is full of enthusiasm and the band is present on every song. Thus I'm not surprised at all that the origins of this group date back to the early nineties. Having won various contests, Listeria has attained the honour of supporting Iron Savior, Dokken, Michael Schenker Group and Edguy among others. So, on the face of it Listeria seems rather promising group - let's see if the album manages to deliver.

Musically this record contains nicely varying blend of different metal styles. The song material is somewhat diverse, and thus the listening experience remains intriguing. It definitely shows that this group knows their metal well as they combine several styles effortlessly in their music. Especially the Queensrÿche-like chorus on the sixth song favourably surprised me. Unfortunately the main vocalist's delivery varied every now and then - his high-pitched vocals tend to annoy the listener partly. Therefore, I do have one word of advice to Vittorio Scotti: Please don't force your voice to the higher register, as it doesn't always sound too natural.

The production on this record is apt. The sounds are rather fitting, so they don't hold back the songs in any way. All in all, Listeria's Full of Fire is fairly good effort for a debut offering... however, in today's market it isn't quite enough. However, with a more distinguishing vocalist it might be.
