Almost thirty years have passed since the formation of Zeus Pendragon, one of the best-selling progressive rock groups not signed to any major label. Quickly the band dropped the "Zeus" part of their name 'cause it would have been too long to fit across a t-shirt. Surely the path of Pendragon has been full of surprises, both success and hardships have faced the group. They were almost signed to a major label, but after a personnel change at EMI their demo was dropped. In consequence, the band formed a label of their own (Toff Records) to release the aforementioned "Kowtow" demo. Ever since all Pendragon releases have been published by Toff Records. With their seventh album "Believe", Pendragon has taken a slightly different direction both musically and visually. The material on this record is a bit more experimental than before... however, it's experimental in a good way (so the album is more intriguing to listen). For the most part, "Believe" is a steady album in terms of song quality. Nonetheless, at times the experimentation isn't precisely worthwhile. On the face of it, the production of this album has been carried out rather well. All in all, Pendragon's Believe is a good neo-prog album and worthy of recommendation.
