The fifth Loudblast album, Planet Pandemonium, gets re-released although it's quite traditional old-school death metal record. It doesn't offer many surprises, so the music doesn't manage to get me intrigued. Actually I haven't listened to this band before, but I reckon these guys have the potential to write a lot better album than Planet Pandemonium. Regardless, there are some good sections on this release. For the most part, the material on this album is a mix of thrash and death metal. Although the material is quite solid in regard to the performance, I feel that the songs could have been a bit more experimental. Nonetheless, as a traditional metal album, Loudblast's Planet Pandemonium is quite moderate. As a whole this release is slightly too monotonous to my liking. In any event, there are also some surprising songs on "Planet Pandemonium"... for example, the twelfth track contains a vocal effect reminding me of Megadeth's Dave Mustaine. Stéphane Buriez handled the production and mixing of this album, and I've got to admit the sounds are quite good. The occasional background distortion, however, isn't desired. In addition, some aspects of the mix could have been carried out better. Jean-Pierre Bouquet handled the mastering at l'Autre Studio. In case you don't mind about the lack of originality and innovativeness, you might enjoy listening to Loudblast's Planet Pandemonium. Nevertheless, I recommend giving a listen to this album before buying. Visit Artist's Website - MAGE (June 16th, 2005) « back
