Although this is already the third album of Rebellion, I have to admit I haven't heard of these guys before. Apparently the band was formed by ex-members of Grave Digger Uwe Lulis and Tomi Göttlich. Mostly the music on this album is rather traditional power metal, but there are some highlights on this release as well (for example, "Harald Harfager").

"Sagas of Iceland - The History of the Vikings Volume I" contains rather tightly performed power metal, which just needs a bit more distinction. There are too many bands already settling for conventional metal, so I wish that Rebellion will take another route. The material on this record is of rather solid quality, but it would benefit from a hint of originality and innovativeness. However, there are a lot of listeners out there, who are more than satisfied with twin-guitar leads and strong rhythms.

Sounds on this album are rather assertive and powerful. Nonetheless, the cymbals could have had a bit less sizzle. Other than that, the sounds are really apt for a power metal album. In case you're a sucker for epic power metal, you should definitely give Rebellion a listen.
