Helena Iren Michaelsen (Imperia, ex-Trail of Tears) has formed a new band called Angel. To surprise us all, Angel doesn't have anything to do with metal... actually the music is atmospheric vocal-driven symphonic even opera-like music. This is the first single (Don't Wanna Run) from the forthcoming debut album "A Woman's Diary - Chapter I". Judging by this release, the debut album of Angel seems quite promising.

The quality of songs on this single is rather even regarding the first three songs... they're all rather easy listening tunes, but the fourth song offers quite a twist. "Darkness" offers a more freaky approach in singing, but the song isn't that peculiar with all the shrieks and such. However, if nothing it certainly proves that Angel's upcoming album will be multi-dimensional. Nonetheless, it didn't appeal to me too much although I'm quite a fan of freaky music.

The production of this single is fairly good, although the strings, for example, could have sounded better... also some other aspects of the mix could have been further honed. Regardless, the overall impression remains rather positive, and I'll definitely look forward hearing the whole album.
