The follow-up to the debut album of Audioslave is titled as "Out of Exile". Since the debut sold over five million copies worldwide, the fanbase of this group is already rather large... however, this new release probably won't attain any new fans. "Out of Exile" is pretty much what one can expect from Audioslave... the basis of songs is still heavily founded on rhythm, which is definitely a good thing. The groove of Audioslave is rather riveting, and the experimentality ensures that this record retains its long-term appeal. Nonetheless, at times the band tends to sound a bit repetitive in their "runs". In addition, there are simply too many songs that I label as 'fill'. The production of this album is fairly good. Nonetheless, I must point out that the drums could have sounded a lot better. The mixing took place at Record Plant Studios, Los Angeles, CA and Southern Tracks, Atlanta, GA by Brendan O'Brien. Mastering was handled at Marcussen Mastering by Stephen Marcussen himself. Overall, this release contains a bit too many middling sections, but other than that "Out of Exile" is quite good album. The fans of Audioslave will most likely find this album pleasing. Nevertheless, I recommend listening to the album beforehand, since some listeners may be disappointed (for example, I was rather disappointed in the beginning, but after listening to the album more and more it became slightly more appealing).
