The Grammy nominated guitarist Alex Masi has finished the third and final part of his series of classical music. Titled as "In the Name of Beethoven", Masi pays homage to one of the greatest classical composers, namely Ludwig van Beethoven. On the previous two "In the Name of..." releases Masi performed songs from both Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Sebastian Bach. Although Masi stays faithful to the originals, he introduces a rock approach on his performances despite the fact that he's mostly playing acoustic guitar on this album. The music doesn't need any introduction since everyone's familiar with Beethoven's work (or at least they should be). On this album Alex Masi reproduces the originals skilfully with slight interpretation. Therefore, fans of Beethoven's music will most likely find this album worth listening. However, on a more critical note this album could have had better production. Masi recorded this album in his home studio, and occasionally there's some background noise (fortunately it isn't obtrusive). Listeners of instrumental (especially classical) music should give Alex Masi's "In the name of..." series a listen. Alex Masi has such an emotive vibrato that it alone makes this album worth listening ;) Release date: April 22nd, 2005 Visit Artist's Website - MAGE (April 21st, 2005) « back
