Although it's easy to consider Inactive Messiah as a new band, one should note that the band was actually formed back in 2001. However, back then they were known as Womb of Maggots. A year ago the band decided to change its name from "Womb of Maggots" to "Inactive Messiah". This self-titled album is their first release under this new name. In addition to the music itself, "Inactive Messiah" comes with a multimedia CD (which contains lyrics, videos, pictures, wallpapers etc.)

One of Inactive Messiah's strengths is their unique style... I can't tell that I have listened to anything similar in a long, long while. Inactive Messiah's music is a blend of Nu-Metal and Death Metal with occasional electro elements and a hint of melodic power metal. Unfortunately their material isn't of even quality (there are few weaker tracks). "Building Your God" and "Hate in Me" aren't as good as other tracks, but other than that the music is of good quality. Without a doubt, Inactive Messiah has potential (and hopefully their music has demand).

Production on this album has been handled quite well. Few guitar parts have some slight background noise (distortion), but other than that this album is quite clean. "Inactive Messiah" has been mixed and mastered at Finnvox studios in Finland by T.T. Oksala and Minerva Pappi (HIM, Tiamat, etc.) Mostly they have done a good job (the sounds are quite felicitous).

Overall, Inactive Messiah favourably impressed me. As I hadn't heard of them before, I didn't know what to expect. "Inactive Messiah" is especially recommended for the open-minded listeners (listening before buying might be in order though).
