Polish Lost Soul's 'Chaostream' contains 46 minutes of music that brutally explodes in your face. Despite of the savage delivery, the music has a melodic edge to it as well (melodic guitar solos provide a contrast to brutal death metal riffs). The melodic edge makes their music more enjoyable than the corresponding of an average death metal band. In addition, Lost Soul has lots of creative guitar lines scattered around the record thus avoiding from making the listening experience monotonous. Production on this album is quite good. The sounds are very powerful (just the way they should be). However, the background noise (distortion) on some guitar parts should have been less significant. Also the cymbals should have been mixed better. Listeners of catchy & groovy death metal blasting might (probably will) find this release interesting. However, it doesn't represent the cutting edge of death metal by any means. Nevertheless, Chaostream is more innovative than the average death metal release (occasionally some songs delivered the goods really well). In case you listen to death metal, you might want to give Lost Soul a listen. Release date: 25.02.2005 Visit Artist's Website - MAGE (01.01.2005) « back
