8thSin, which originally started as Michael Bohlin's hobby project (2000), has evolved into a band. In order to add some life to his music, Bohlin asked his friend IT (Tony Särkkä) to join the project. However, this isn't the first time they work together (Brejndedd). IT's career consists of many memorable works... For example, he co-formed WAR with Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy, Pain) and David Parland (Blackmoon). IT also has written lyrics for Marduk and Dissection. Other than that, he has been in Abruptum, Ophthalamia and Vondur. Michael Bohlin, on the other hand, has worked as a producer (and has performed backing vocals on Hammerfall's "Power from the North"). Sinners Inc. is the debut album of 8thSin. 8thSin plays industrial metal "à la Pain"... Nevertheless, Pain's music resides more on heavy guitar riffs, whereas 8thSin views guitars and synths equally important (one could say that 8thSin is more industrial than Pain). However, I prefer Peter Tägtgren's project (although 8thSin ain't bad). 8thSin has composed groovy songs which will please the dancing audience. However, not all of the songs are good (most of them are mediocre at best). To name a few listening recommendations, I liked "Sex FX" and "Sisters" (both of which uncommonly had short guitar solos). However, the rest of the material is quite even in terms of quality (there are few rip-offs, and otherwise the music ain't too original). I wonder if IT has listened to Morgana Lefay as his vocal parts in "Sister" are so reminiscent of Morgana Lefay's Charles Rytkönen. Surprisingly the last song was quite ordinary atmospheric metal/rock song (it didn't have a groovy beat or anything like that, and actually it was quite good song). Michael Bohlin himself took care of the production, and I must admit that production-wise this album has been done quite well... The sounds are apposite and relatively clean. Also Henrik Jonsson, who took care of mastering, has done his job well. Some samples could have sounded better though (for example, the crispy snare sample in "Sinners" doesn't sound too good). Despite its frailties, Sinners Inc. is a moderate industrial metal album. In case you like industrial metal with melodic approach, I recommend you to give it a listen.
