Infinity Divine, the debut album of Pagan's Mind, has been re-released. However, this isn't just an ordinary reissue... All vocal lines have been re-recorded, the original songs have been clipped and edited to some extent, and there are two newly recorded bonus tracks included as well. Also mixing has been redone. One of the bonus tracks is a cover of King Diamond song "At the Graves". It features guest appearences by Glen Drover (ex-King Diamond, Megadeth, Eidolon) and Gus G. (Firewind, Dream Evil, Mystic Prophecy). Music is progressive metal with quite a melodic approach. Songs are based on catchy riffs and every now and then you'll hear some hooklines (partly reminiscent of Queensrÿche, KenZiner and Dream Theater). The vocals are in the vein of Queensrÿche's Geoff Tate, but not as successful. However, Nils K. Rue doesn't do a bad job. Production on this album is quite strong, although there are some parts that need slight adjustment. For example, distortion and clipping occurred every now and then. Otherwise the production is great — the sounds are tight and fitting. (It's a shame that some sounds got distorted and/or clipped) Nowadays there are quite a lot of different progressive metal bands. There aren't many that differ from the mass... That being the case, one can say Pagan's Mind is no exception of the rule. Infinity Divine is quite good progressive metal album, but it doesn't offer anything new to the genre. Visit Artist's Website - MAGE (19.11.2004) « back
