I was quite surprised by this release. Angelzoom is one of the most peculiar artist choices of the Donzdorf-based company Nuclear Blast. Angelzoom isn't metal, although that's the genre of which Nuclear Blast is known. Angelzoom is basically Claudia Uhle, who's known from her earlier work with X-perience. Actually the name Angelzoom comes from a song on the first X-perience album. Angelzoom's strength isn't the music but the classically trained voice of Claudia, which (according to Nuclear Blast) is "one of the most fascinating voices of the German pop scene". Songs are soundtrackish compositions, which reside heavily on strings (mostly drums have been avoided). Soundtrack is perhaps the best genre description, as there are many styles incorporated... Everything from ambient, new age and electro to pop can be heard on this debut album. Angelzoom was produced by Bernd Wendlandt (Valicon), who also co-wrote the songs on this album. Production has been done very well, as there isn't much to complain. The sounds are felicitous (they suit the dreamy atmosphere of the songs). The average RockReviews reader might be searching for rock albums. However, if you're interested in listening peaceful music for a change, you should consider this album.
