Almost 17 years has passed since the formation of Cianide, and the band is still continuing in the same vein as in the beginning — playing old school death metal. Unfortunately, I've never been the biggest fan of old school death metal that is a bit lacking on the melodic side of the music. Thus, Cianide's latest offering "Hell's Rebirth" isn't exactly "the stuff" for me. Nonetheless, as an open-minded listener I give it a few spins. The music on "Hell's Rebirth" is old school death metal, which lefts me a bit cold. Although I listen to a wide variety of music, I've never been a fan of old school death. For me the melody of a song is one of the most important aspects of the art called music. However, if old school death is skilfully crafted there's a chance that it impresses me. Regardless, Cianide is too monotonous for my taste. It goes without saying that the lyrical content of this album isn't that good either. In addition to their own material, there's a "hidden" Death cover included after 'Wormfeast'. This album was produced and mixed by Cianide and Colonel Neal. The outcome is quite an average sounding record that doesn't excel at any specific field. Those who like death metal in the old school way, however, might want to give Cianide a spin.
